It’s not often that Bianca Jagger, Sharon Stone, representatives of the United Nations, the Agnelli family, and the Italian General Consulate get together in the same room. But the members of this seemingly disparate group are not only all involved with Israel’s Tel HaShomer Hospital, the most prestigious in the Middle East, but, according to co-host Jason Pomeranc, “they’re all friends of Lapo’s.” That would be Lapo Elkann, the Fiat heir and fashion entrepreneur, who was fêted at the U.N.’s Delegates’ Dining Room last night for his recent post as the Global Special Ambassador to Tel HaShomer Hospital. While Elkann’s wild nights a couple of years ago have been well documented, his involvement with the hospital hasn’t. “I think when you have been given a second chance, you need to give back,” he explained. “I want to give back to this hospital. The desire comes from my heart.”
