Donatella

The juggernaut of fabulosity that is Donatella Versace rolled into town last night to launch Versace’s menswear line at Barneys’ New York. Sporting seven-inch heels and a George Hamilton tan, the designer made a brief promotional appearance in one of the department store’s display windows before teetering up to the third floor, where a star-studded cocktail party was underway. “I like coming to Donatella’s things, because there’s always a moment of, “Oh no, that did not just happen!” said Alan Cumming. On this particular evening, that moment never came. Save for a few no-shows (J. Lo included) everything went off without a hitch, and Donatella herself was on her best behavior. While dining at Barneys’ CEO Howard Socol’s Soho apartment later in the evening, she even declined to join a group of indoor smokers and instead took her pack of ciggies to the elevator bank. How very un-diva.
