clothes call

March 10, 2008  5:12 pm

Juliette

“I just want to see some clothes. Let me see some clothes!” declared André Leon Talley last night at Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles, where several designers were showing their wares. First on the roster was Orthodox, which debuted a women’s collection comprising boxy shapes alongside similar silhouettes for guys. Next up was Julia Clancey. Never mind that the self-confessed English pop tart’s clothes were held in customs—she still managed to send out a handful of sassy red-carpet options for wannabe starlets. Vanity Fair’s Michael Roberts, who was spotted in the front row, declared it “a good start to the week.” An hour later, Juliette Lewis arrived for Whitley Kros. “Somebody just told me I missed out on not seeing Julia Clancey. Who is she? I’m intrigued to see her stuff,” she inquired. Also out to show their support for Whitley Kros, which is designed by Marissa Ribisi and Sophia Coloma, were Bijou Phillips, Jenna Elfman, and Ribisi’s twin, Giovanni. The collection, said Coloma, was all about “Melanie Griffith in ‘Working Girl’ traveling through Berlin and Paris, listening to Nirvana.”
