glow figure

Just about everyone who showed up for Ilori’s party last night in honor of Derek Lam felt compelled, at some point, to give a pair of the designer’s new shades a test drive through the brightly lit Soho boutique—perhaps in the hope that Mother Nature would get the point and start the ball rolling on some sunshine. Or perhaps, like Lam, the Ilori attendees simply like the air of enigma a great pair of sunglasses can conjure. “It’s like instant mystery,” mused the designer. “There’s no other accessory as transformative.” For girls who prefer to conjure a bookish vibe, or for girls who just can’t see, Lam is also offering clear-lensed specs. Either way, the real mystery was why Lam’s frames imparted such a rosy glow to all who donned them. “I had the glasses lined with mauve on the inside,” he explained, showing off a pair of classic cat-eyes. “That way, when you’re having one of those mornings where you’ve got to run to the store to get milk for your coffee, and you’ve been out too late, and there’s no time for makeup, the glasses themselves will give your skin a little pick-me-up.” Here’s betting they’ll look even better with a tan…
