Calling all aspiring Ralphs, Veras, and Thoms: Gen Art is currently accepting applications for its 10th annual Styles 2008 International Design Competition. The enterprising nonprofit—which propelled the previously unknown talents of Rodarte, Peter Som, Cloak, and Duckie Brown to household-name status—is soliciting entries from emerging talents in five categories: women’s ready-to-wear, eveningwear, and avant-garde; menswear; and accessories. Entries will be judged by a panel of industry insiders. The winners, to be chosen in mid-April, will receive a $5,000 prize, plus the opportunity to show their wares like a pro at a New York runway show (that’s a look from Txell Miras of Barcelona, one of last year’s contestants, above). Applications and instructions are here, and entries are due by April 4.
