what would madge do?

On the eve of NATO’s Romanian summit this week, analysts at the Netherlands Institute of International Relations have a sound word of advice for the military alliance: vogue. Citing Madonna’s successful penchant for self-reinvention, experts agree that a strategic makeover, could be just the thing for the coalition. That, and a modest sense of their own self-worth. A less likely source for political strategy, Amy Winehouse continues to garner fashion accolades; Karl, Kors, and now Cavalli are all fans of the chanteuse. She just won’t go, go, go. Speaking of substance abuse, French alcohol colossus Pernod Ricard paid top dollar for a drink this weekend: a reported $8.34 billion for Vin & Sprit AB, the parent company of our-ads-are-better-than-our-vodka brand Absolut. And while hoop lovers have a well-matched weekend of games ahead of them, beer lovers can get in on bracket madness, too. New office pool? Fit-and-trim Marc Jacobs is on the wagon, but he still likes a good meal (or, at least, a good party). Are MJ cafés next in his quest for global domination? Jacobs fan Dita Von Teese can go shopping again. The decorous burlesque star received $25,000 in overdue performance costs this week. Math note: In case you were thinking of hiring Dita for your next event, a martini-glass bath should come to a little more than four grand. Miuccia Prada may be all lace and fairies when it comes to clothes, but she runs her business with an iron fist. Cube decorators, take note.
