Polkadress

Even if you don’t know your Wagner from your Verdi, you can still enjoy the fabulous finds at the City Opera Thrift Shop’s Spring Vintage Event. The humbly named store is always a treasure trove of used fashion and accessories, but during their twice-a-year blowout, they bring out the big guns: a stockpile of designer duds and accessories from labels like Missoni, YSL, Oscar de la Renta, Chloé, and Balenciaga. The gently worn finds go on sale this Thursday at 5 p.m. at the shop (222 E. 23rd Street), with all proceeds going to fund the creation and design of costumes for the City Opera’s new productions. Prices range from $50 to $250, with furs going for slightly more. But no need to feel guilty about a spending spree at this sale—after all, how often do you get to buy Dior for a good cause?
