At the Wednesday night premiere of “Baby Mama,” the film starring Tina Fey as a woman who wants to have a baby and Amy Poehler as her surrogate, we were reminded of just how much like a family the crew at “Saturday Night Live” is. Or maybe how much like high school it is. High school for really special, really funny kids. Cast members—from both earlier seasons (Steve Martin’s posse) and contemporary ones (the Will Ferrell gang)—had parts in the film; while others, like Rachel Dratch, Molly Shannon, Jimmy Fallon, and Chevy Chase, made it to both the premiere at the Ziegfeld on 54th Street and the after-party and dinner at the MoMA. When we bumped into Mango himself, Chris Kattan, we asked if “SNL” was indeed the family we imagined it was. “Um, sure,” he said. “A very happily dysfunctional one.” Also in attendance was model and WHO Goodwill Ambassador Liya Kebede, who said she admired the film, but not its comic depiction of childbirth. “My experience was very different,” the mother of two said with a big smile.
