Kyobai

A Phillips de Pury auction is always cause for celebration in the Style.com offices. Not because we all can afford to bid, but because they always send us one of their gorgeous, ink-saturated catalogs. The current example, for the Kyobai auction of Japanese art that will take place in London on April 3, is no exception; from Takashi Murakami’s fun-house panda sculpture to Yasumasa Morimura’s weirdly eerie re-creations of famous scenes and portraits, it’s a visual feast. Our executive fashion director, Candy Pratts Price, has every Phillips catalog she’s ever received. “They’re great reference books! And you know what you can do with them? At Elaine’s they used to cover the bathroom walls with old Life magazines. I’ve always wanted to do a room that’s completely covered with beautiful images.”
