“What do you think?” Tory Burch asked, referencing the latest location she’s scouting for yet another Southern California retail outpost of her eponymous brand. “We just opened San Diego last week and we’re opening Malibu in August.” And what better place to toast the diminutive blonde, whose retro-inspired separates and ubiquitous flats have been unanimously embraced by socialistas and doyennes alike, than at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel? Honored by CHIPS (Colleague Helpers in Philanthropic Service) for her dedication and support, Burch took time out from her busy schedule crisscrossing the country to thank a crowd that included Angie Harmon, Molly Sims, and Kelly Rutherford. In a chocolate and purple peacock feather-printed shift from her Fall ‘08 collection, Burch coyly accepted the acknowledgement, and presented her Spring and pre-fall collections. As for what’s next, the designer reveals, “I want to expand. We’re talking about doing a fragrance and a home collection.”
