While summer may be an unthwarted delight for everyone else, sunshine is a hassle for anyone who has to wear glasses—either you’re switching between standard frames and prescription sunglasses ad nauseam, or succumbing to the seemingly arbitrary tinting of those Rx lenses that change with the light. Happily, specs guru Benjamin Montoya has resurrected one of the laid-by solutions of old: the clip-on. Currently produced as an adjunct to two styles—the slender Nicole and the rounded frame he produced for Jenni Kayne—the clip-ons are for now available only at Montoya’s two City of Angels stores in L.A. But more styles and wider distribution are coming soon, and even those with 20/20 vision should feel free to get in on the clip—both the Kayne and Nicole styles can be ordered as regular sunglasses and worn with or without the clip. A caveat, however: A double dose of dark lenses will reduce visibility, making this one fashion case where the blind may truly wind up leading the blind.
