maria luisa on the move

June 26, 2008  5:21 pm

Inside_blog

Maria Luisa in Paris has always been a kind of insider’s club of the most exciting fashion in the world. Now, after 20 years in the same spot, owner Maria Luisa Poumaillou has moved a few blocks from the Rue Cambon to 7 Rue Rouget de L’Isle, where she’s united her main store, young style annex Mixte, and shoe store all under one roof. In creating the white, mirrored space, architects Laurent Buttazzoni and Frédéric Lavaud were inspired by the “radically neutral” style of the Les Halles apartment of conceptual art collector Ghislain Mollet-Viéville. “This makes it easier for everyone to understand what we’ve always been doing, which is offering avant-garde fashion that is also somehow wearable, but always different,” says Poumaillou.
