Friday evening’s blackout in the Hollywood Hills hit select residences, among them the gallery and event space Not to Be Reproduced, where entrepreneur Justin Kern’s music, art, and fashion soirées have become regular events on the SoCal social calendar. Among those who turned up for what was to have been a performance by Devendra Banhart and Megapuss and a special screening of Alia Raza’s “Hypnotic Cascade” video series were Jasmin Shokrian and Erin Wasson, the latter on crutches. After 45 minutes in the dark—the substitute generator never showed up—we decided to call it a night. But it was worth the journey just to see Banhart working his cell phone in the back garden, trying to get the band together for the following night. Scheduling conflicts kept that from happening, but we did get this exclusive thumbs-up photo.
