Squeaky-clean living was the theme of last night’s book party at the Stephan Weiss Studio for Kathy Freston’s “Quantum Wellness.” Guests—including Diane von Furstenberg, Harvey Weinstein and Georgina Chapman, Rupert and Wendi Murdoch, Lisa and Mehmet Oz, and Marianne Williamson—picked at nondairy, nonmeat hors d’oeuvres and toasted the best-selling success of Freston’s guide to health and happiness. “It’s a stepping stone away from old habits…and into a fresh, clean start,” Freston explained of the 21-day vegan cleanse (recently embraced by Oprah!) she advocates in the book. And it’s not just for hippie types, added Katie Lee Joel, who has meditated with the leggy, blond health-and-wellness guru in St. Bart’s: “Sometimes when you think of self-help, or vegan, or being very spiritual, you get this earthy granola picture in your head of a woman that doesn’t shave her legs. Kathy shows that you don’t have to be that way.”
