According to Holly Brubach, the former New York Times fashion critic-turned-creative consultant for Yoox.com, the best place to look for vintage fashion is online. “The vintage landscape has been transformed by the Internet, bringing unique pieces to an avid audience. It’s still worthwhile making the rounds of the dealers, but it requires a lot of legwork, and the best of them are scattered across too many cities for one person to cover,” she says. Hence her curating of the site’s vintage Dior sale, which gets underway tomorrow (hot on the heels of its recent Chanel blowout). Among the highlights are a 1967 haute couture cocktail dress, purchased from Christie’s, that once belonged to the Mexican film star Maria Felix (above), and an afternoon dress in a giraffe print from 1957 that was designed by Yves Saint Laurent soon after he took over the house following the death of Christian Dioréa find with particular poignancy just now.
