art deco meets the bronze age via r&y augousti

I’m a huge fan of R&Y Augousti, which is based in Paris and designed by the husband-and-wife team of Ria and Yoiuri Augousti. It was launched in the nineties as a home-furnishings collection, but it’s since expanded into more of a lifestyle brand. The furniture has an Art Deco feel, and features exotic materials such as shagreen, eel, python, mother-of-pearl, and horn. The handbag collection has the same thirties feel, and uses just as many unusual skins and fabrics. My favorite is the egg-shaped clutch in bronze. I’d love to be carrying it right now, but I’ll have to wait until it hits stores this fall. $900, available at Barneys New York, (212) 754-7940.
