jazz hands: close-ups of twenties clothes
July 9, 2008 2:54 pm

Charles Nolan provided a fix for my ongoing twenties obsession with his loan of “Les Annees Folles,” an exhibition catalog he picked up at the Musee Galliera in Paris. It’s several hundred pages are packed with close-ups of Jazz Age embroidery on dresses by Poiret, Agnes, Lanvin, and shoes by Perugia (one of the most talented footwear designers of all time). The text is in French and you won’t find this treasure on Amazon, but there are a very few copies at The Shop at the Cooper-Hewitt, so, er, step lively.
