laird loves ebay: the twenties

No decade captures my imagination quite like the Roaring Twenties. Researching my forthcoming book on cocktail dresses gave me an excuse to do some reading up on the period, which lead me to the Nancy Milford biography of Zelda Fitzgerald, which got me on to eBay, where I found “The Romantic Egoists,” a pictorial autobiography of F. Scott and Zelda constructed from their scrapbooks and albums. Though too large to read in bed, it’s a great reference of the quintessential sheikh and flapper.
