paris when it sizzles

Tiscityler

Maybe now the fashion pack will get more involved in global-warming causes: The summer heat in Paris is officially messing with the shows—not to mention all the hassle of constantly blotting one’s brow. It reached a fever (get it? hot weather = fever?) pitch yesterday at the Givenchy show when, as nearly the entire front row was using the program notes as fans while they waited for Liv Tyler to arrive, one woman said to another across the runway, “I think I’m going to start smoking again just so I can go outside and get some fresh air.” Backstage after the show, Suzy Menkes blurted out, “Everyone relax and cool down—if you can,” to the crush of black-suited security men and well-wishers surrounding Riccardo Tischi. He, too, could have used a fan. “We have to do something,” he said to one of the publicists as he wiped his face off, posing for photos with Tyler and Lou Doillon. “I am melting.”
