When Karl Lagerfeld sent models down the runway back in 1994 sporting berry-black nails, he forever altered nail polish’s status in the fashion world. Chanel’s Vamp became an instant classic, and a good manicure earned a spot on every designer’s to-do list for a successful runway presentation. “I’ve always felt nails were such an important accessory for my runway shows and for the completion of my looks in general,” Tracy Reese concurs. Hence the designer’s decision to collaborate on a line of nail lacquers with beauty-industry monolith Sally Hansen, to debut in August. Inspired by actual fabric swatches from Reese’s Fall collection, which includes shades of graphite, quartz, and teak, the ten new polishes offer a direct link to her clothing. It’s essentially like buying ready-to-wear for $6 a pop, from a drug store near you. And no dressing-room drama.
