Q&A

As Seen on Screen

It’s mid-August, and for the devoted that means one thing: Catwalk fever is upon us. Thankfully, Vogue.tv is feeding our craving with this week’s debut of Model.Live, an online series following three rising stars at IMG. More of a pensive documentary than a hair-pulling/tantrum-throwing reality show, the 12 episodes (new ones premiere each Friday) aim to reveal what it’s really like to be on the development board at a major agency. We meet Austria, a shy teen from the Dominican Republic who could be Masha Tyelna’s more exotic twin. She has a Teen Vogue edit under her belt (and a body to die for), but will she gain the confidence needed to land the best castings? There’s also Madeline, an Erin O’Connor-esque brunette who’s become something of an It girl Down Under, the result of a year spent honing her craft in Sydney. Can she make it in New York or Europe as a total unknown? And then there’s Dutch beauty Cato Van Ee, who’s already proven her blue-chip status with Prada and Miu Miu exclusives last season. The pressure is on to ensure she lands only the best NYC shows, paving the way for what promises to be a strong showing in Europe. Episode 1 is up now at www.vogue.tv, and fans can visit www.bebo.com/modellive to read daily updates from the three girls in the form of photos, text messages, and video diaries.
