Vintage in Venice

August 27, 2008  9:55 am

Fans of L.A.’s Shareen Vintage need no longer brave downtown’s gritty wilds to sample its wares. Proprietor Shareen Mitchell has opened a second set of doors in Venice Beach, giving a more intimate air to her distinctly glamorous finds. In contrast to the original shop’s industrial atmosphere, Mitchell’s Venice outpost is housed in a cozy bungalow on hip Abbot Kinney Boulevard filled with wicker furniture and floral arrangements. It’s a comforting backdrop for those new to her aesthetic, which is not for the timid: fringed leather jackets, peplum minis, and dramatic floor-length peasant dresses that look straight off the runways. “I’ve simply been buying more than the downtown location can stock,” Mitchell explains. With 200 new pieces set to arrive in the Venice shop each week, it looks like she’s not slowing down any time soon.

  1. What a sweet shop - looks absolutely lovely! :) That aqua skirt looks so pretty - I think I would definitely go for some of the peasant items.

Oh! Now I REALLY want my own boutique! :)
