Where in the World Is The Sartorialist?

August 21, 2008  11:34 am

In between shooting the men’s shows for men.style.com (our brother site), posing for a Gap ad, and capturing the street scene everywhere from Los Angeles to London, Scott Schuman collaborated with Gant, the nearly-60-year-old sportswear label that invented the “locker loop” on the back of its shirts and that has been raising its profile of late with ad campaigns starring Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and the Cousteau clan, among others. Schuman’s project features ten stylish New Yorkers wearing items from Gant with their own wardrobe, photographed in their own neighborhoods. For those of you who can’t wait until September 5 for your Sartorialist fix—that’s when Schuman will be back on Style.com posting his pics from the Spring 2009 collections—here’s an exclusive clip from the behind-the-scenes video shot by documentary filmmaker Kiki Allgeier during the portrait sessions. To see Schuman’s portraits up close, click here or visit Gant’s Fifth Avenue flagship this fall.
