a day in the life of: guido palau, redken creative consultant

September 26, 2008  3:12 pm

Thursday, September 25

Today is the last day of the Milan Spring ‘09 shows, and finally I get to wake up a little later…the week’s schedule has been amazingly hectic.

Today is the Versace show, which I’ve been doing for a very long time. I’m really excited as I make my way there in the car. No matter what show it is or how long I’ve been doing it, the apprehension still remains—which is great because it keeps me on my toes!

I arrive at the Versace venue and immediately run into Donatella, who I consider very inspirational. We always have a giggle together and today is no exception. She has such confidence in her deliverance, it always puts me at ease.

Pat McGrath is doing the makeup. She fills the room with her personality, which is golden. She creates such a brilliant, upbeat atmosphere.

The hair today is a sleek, extended ponytail, which is a step away from the usual Versace volume, but still very chic and rich-looking—and that’s still completely the Versace woman. Redken’s Vinyl Spray is a must here.

Nine girls turn up late from the Fendi show, which notches up the chaos slightly. But in a way I love that. The pace is fast and my team is racing at a million miles an hour. These guys know how I like it and they deliver with perfection.

First looks! Gorgeous. The clothes are so Versace, but the silhouette is brilliantly modern. And the ponytail works!

Coco Rocha’s stomp makes me smile every time…The girls look incredible. Phew.

After the show it’s time to refocus. Tomorrow I fly to Paris and I’m excited to think I will be there again. I love the city and I love its designers! Here we go again…

  1. Mr. Guido Palau, I adore you just as I adore Pat McGrath and an other famous stylist Orlando Pita. All of you are the creme de la creme who can make or break a show. Thanks for your devotion to the industry, designers but above all the models.
