at a loose end in milan? read on

September 21, 2008  4:26 pm

You’ve just arrived in Milan, it’s the weekend, and (this being Italy) everything seems closed. The warm-up shows are on, but you cringe at the thought of the following days of fashion frenzy and how you’re going to get around with the blisters that your bondage-style wedges have given you. The solution? A spot of art. Start Milano has organized the city’s top 41 contemporary art galleries into a “season” of extended opening hours. You can either download an easy-to-read map from the Web site and visit them at your own pace, or, for those whose feet need a serious rest after London and New York, there are two little buses equipped with guides. Be an early bird at the rendezvous points at the piazza Vergani and the piazza Oberdan, though—seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
