blasblog: a low-key night for givenchy

Because Riccardo Tisci’s designs for Givenchy have so heartily captured the imagination of the fashion flock, when any invite shows up bearing the French fashion house’s swirling logo—especially one as cool as the vinyl record sent out for Wednesday night’s fête—the Pavlovian response is to fire up the car service and put on one’s favorite Givenchy frock. But not every party can be pure decadence. This week’s event, a viewing of artist Ian Wright’s tribute to Phenomen’eyes, a new beauty product from Givenchy Beauty, while certainly stylish, was a more casual affair. “I never thought I’d spend so much time with makeup,” said Wright, who created a three-dimensional sculpture with the Phenomen’eyes brushes, left. “The whole idea is to symbolize the space between beauty and art.” Of the party itself, the people at Givenchy seemed to be having some fun with guests’ vanity. They put a giant mirror up outside the single restroom, thus considerably slowing down the line. As one attendee muttered to herself as she piled the free product on to her face, “With all this stuff I’ll forget that I have to go to the bathroom.”
