“Uncross your legs” is a familiar refrain from the photographer’s pit. So no one was surprised when it started up during the wait for the Nina Ricci show yesterday. Then one of the guys pulled out a laser pointer and started flashing people’s feet. Chuckles went up, but as what turned out to be a warm Indian summer afternoon wore on and there were no signs of a start, the charm wore off, especially once the shutterbugs started a countdown. Hilary Alexander of The Daily Telegraph seemed to find it amusing, if no one else did; she yelled “Blast off!” when the count ended. But Leigh Lezark, who had earlier pointed out the value of the pit—what would a review be without the accompanying photos, after all—changed her mind. “Actually, that’s irritating,” she said.
