A more seasoned fashion week-er than myself once told me that as soon as all the headsetted publicists start buzzing around before a show, yelling, “We’re clearing the runway!” that’s when the big guns will come out. Truer words could not have been spoken when it came to Monday afternoon’s Thakoon show. Just as the runways cleared, Kanye West and what appears to be his on-again designer girlfriend Alexis Phifer, took their front-row seats (which did nothing to keep the runways clear). Afterward, we caught up with West (he kindly gave us a lift to Jeffrey and Pastis), who told us this will be an abridged fashion week for him. “I’d do it all if I could, but I’m only around a few days. I had to be there for today. This is the day—Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, and Michael Bastian, who made this suit.”
