blasblog: milla on balmain: worth bleeding for

September 29, 2008  11:26 am

Thoughts of economic doom melted away once I touched down in Paris yesterday—a fantasy that was further fed by my first stop of the week, the stone-washed, peak-shouldered, sparkly Balmain show. It opened with a poppy bang—Madonna’s “Holiday.” By the time the file of cocktail dress-clad models was making its way backstage, even Michael Roberts caught himself singing along to “Get Into the Groove.” “I was a bit jet-lagged today, but that show woke me right up,” the Vanity Fair fashion director said. And of the clothes themselves? According to Milla Jovovich, who’s in town for the week, they’re worth fighting for. Turns out the actress/singer/model/designer had a bit of a tussle with her Balmain samples as she was getting dressed yesterday. A chain-link minidress scratched her forehead as she pulled it over her head and a shrunken horsehair jacket left her inner elbow just a tad bloody. “But it’s so worth it,” she sighed. “I bleed for fashion.”
