Blasblog: overland’s surprise guests

Elise Øverland was worried that Hurricane Hanna was going to ruin her turnout for her presentation Saturday afternoon. “Oh, thank goodness it’s not empty,” she was starting to tell us when a woman wearing a headset interrupted her in what seemed to be a panic. Curious what disaster had struck, we asked for details. “It’s nothing,” Øverland said. “She thought that she just saw Courteney Cox and Laura Dern walk in. But they wouldn’t come to this, she must be wrong.” Oh, no, she was not. Much to the designer’s surprise (which we have to admit is rather endearing in this world of paid celebrity endorsements), Cox and Dern had indeed just strolled in. Turns out the two, who are friends with Øverland’s stylist, had heard nice things about the collection and decided to pay the presentation a visit. “Does that happen anymore?” Øverland asked. “That makes me really happy. That makes me think I’m doing something right.”
