blasblog: suffering to be beautiful

-------

“I absolutely tortured myself this summer, all for that couple of minutes that happened about an hour ago,” Narciso Rodriguez sighed at Indochine on Tuesday night, where the designer and his A-list crowd of well-wishers and admirers gathered for a late-night supper. “I. Am. Exhausted.” What Rodriguez lacked in endurance his party made up for in Hollywood glamour—in the center booth of the restaurant sat Jessica Alba, Hugh Dancy, Claire Danes, Zoya Loeb, and Cash Warren. While they weren’t exactly keen to open their dinner conversation to the group—inquiring reporters and overzealous photographers, no matter how polite, were warned away—some of the designer’s other lady friends were more forthcoming with their praise. “I think he’s a genius,” Jessica Seinfeld noted, while Isabeli Fontana, who opened the show, said that he was her favorite person in fashion (though we think she’s used that line before). But most impressed was Debi Mazar. After quizzing the designer on how he got started in the dress business—”this is all I ever wanted,” Rodriguez told her—Mazar struck a pose and said, “I’ve got this long body, which you have actually managed to give hips. And I’ll be working them all night.”

It doesn’t make sense given the time line, but it looks cool anyway!
