Gary Graham Goes Right Round

September 2, 2008  9:30 am

Summer—and summer hours—are coming to an end. Last Friday I took advantage of the office’s early closing by going to visit Gary Graham’s brand-new boutique at ABC Carpet & Home, where I not only found a dress and a Rebecca Purcell necklace to wear for fashion week, but a new favorite shopping destination. Graham literally thought outside of the box when designing his circular store, letting his imagination run free with images of roundabouts, Indian mandalas, Boy Scout camp fires, and circuses. “I would love the whole boutique to be on a rotating gear…” he muses. No special effects were needed for the shop to move my world, however. Graham’s little 250-square-feet nook is one part cozy, one part creepy (the mannequins have animal heads and claw feet), and entirely magical.
