Globe-trotting designer Kira Plastinina doesn’t find her American clients to be terribly different from their Russian counterparts. “Teenagers all over the world are basically the same, but it’s still interesting to me to see what they choose and how they put it together in different places,” said the 16-year-old designer at a private shopping event at her Soho boutique on Saturday afternoon. The pink-and-white space was packed with well-dressed tweens (otherwise known as the brand’s specially selected style ambassadors, which explained the absence of booze, guests being offered Shirley Temples and homemade milk shakes instead) perusing the racks of pretty-punk pieces, snapping shots in the photo booth, and girl-crushing on the sequin-clad designer and her event co-host, Gossip Girl Leighton Meester. “Kira is such a good role model,” said Blair Waldorf’s real-life alter ego, perhaps thinking about some of her character’s extracurriculars. “I mean, it’s better these girls be into fashion than some of the things kids get involved with.” And is the Moscow-based designer a GG watcher? Her manager laughed out loud. “Omigod yes! She’s obsessed!”
