head start: deka ray barrettes at united bamboo

Thuy Pham and Miho Aoki had a lot of help from their friends this season. Besides the custom James Iha soundtrack, Confetti System’s Julie Ho, Karlo Bello, and Nicholas Anderson provided the decor (a piñata garland) and Deka Ray’s Eugenie Huang contributed both jewelry and custom-made barrettes of plastic and stained wood that immediately caught my eye. Huang, who grew up in the wilds of North Carolina, became fascinated with Alexander Calder’s jewelry as a child, and studied architecture at MIT and Columbia, says she likes to think of “design in a broader sense.” I’d like to think of one of those hair pieces on my head.
