There’s only one thing more embarrassing than admitting that you couldn’t wait for the season premiere of Gossip Girl, and that’s admitting that you couldn’t wait for the series premiere of the new Beverly Hills 90210. But for London-based Henry Holland, who’s in New York this week to show his Spring collection to editors and buyers (”I don’t blame you for not coming over—the dollar ain’t worth much over there”), it’s the old-school rendition of the L.A. zip code that has a hold on his heart. “I don’t think I’ll be able to get into the new one,” he said. “I can’t believe it, really—it’s all about the old one. It’s all about Shannen Doherty and Brian Austin Green.” And what about Gossip Girl? “I’ve TiVo’d the whole season but haven’t gotten around to a single episode.” I forgave him that—kind of—when he revealed that his Spring collection was inspired in part by the Peach Pit gang. Although we can’t show you images of the clothes yet (you’ll have to wait until his September 17 show in London for those), think sexy minidresses with zippers that Jennie Garth will remember all too well, very Brian Austin Green-appropriate polka-dot button-downs, and more than one floral-print denim jacket that would have sent Gabrielle Carteris’ early-nineties heart aflutter. “For me there will only ever be one 90210,” the designer sighed. But just in case there are any new 90210 recruits out there, Holland is co-hosting tomorrow night’s Christie’s party—how very Donna Martin of him!—and is willing to debate the issue.
