hurricane, what hurricane?

Lucky, lucky Marcus and David. Despite the fact that they flipped a schedule change on the fashion public at the very last minute, Rag & Bone designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville nevertheless managed to pack the vast hall of Pier 94 to the metaphorical gills yesterday afternoon. And after that triumph, the duo were able to cheat the weather, to boot. Rag & Bone’s after-party on the rooftop of the Gansevoort Hotel was under threat of rain right up to the moment the open bar closed shop–at which point, Hurricane Hanna saw fit to blow into town. But while the party was raging, the sky played nice, and Neville and Wainwright weren’t the only designers celebrating. Yigal Azrouël joined the fête to blow off some postshow steam, and Rebecca Minkoff, who was loitering with pals Danny Masterson and Bijou Phillips, even saw fit to model the first sample she’d received from her about-to-be-relaunched apparel collection. “Maybe this is bad form,” Minkoff hedged as she tried on the trench coat, “but I’m just really excited.” “Excited” was also the word Neville employed to describe his feelings about that day’s Rag & Bone show. “I think the new venue really worked,” he elaborated, eyes casting about the room for some unknown quarry. “Such a good fit with the energy of the clothes, and the music–” After trailing off for a moment, Neville lit up as he found a familiar face across the deck. “Sorry, that’s my mum!” Turns out, the entire Neville and Wainwright clans had come over from England to take in the Spring 09 festivities. Here’s hoping they all remembered to pack umbrellas.
