Designer update

Lewis Launches

September 3, 2008  4:57 pm

Graphic designer by day, fashion designer by night, weekends, and holidays, CondéNet’s Alison Lewis, who was a co-founder of the now shuttered Mooka Kinney line, is going solo for Spring 2009. “It was at the opening of the Louise Bourgeois show at the Guggenheim that I decided that this was something I had to do, and it all kind of came together quickly,” she explains. Lewis’ inspiration board may have been pinned with images by Man Ray and of 1920’s Paris, but her dresses and separates, like high-waist shorts and bow-tied blouses in washed and printed silks, have a charm and a subtle sexiness that can’t be credited to a specific place and time—though they’re likely to make you want them now and in your closet. 1. I was not really surprised, and kind of like it. But I wonder if she’s also doing gowns or at last some dresses for the evening. I couldn’t find it on the website, maybe I have to look again. And by the way I look forward to your reviews the coming week(s) Laird
