paris fashion week: for usher, discretion is the better party of lingerie

The rap star turned designer—it’s a transition we know well. So we weren’t too surprised to see Usher at Marlies Dekker yesterday. He was at the Dutch underwear designer’s show for two reasons, he said. One, as a “favor” to the designer. And two, to pick up a few pointers for his own upcoming line. “I want to do my own line of men’s and women’s underwear, but obviously I need to research the women’s side so I have an understanding of both,” he explained. (Rather demurely, we thought. Surely he’s done some informal research?) “You know, when everything else comes off, it’s the one thing that stays on. Whether it’s mismatched or together, it says a lot about the confidence of a woman.” The man is discreet, we’ll say that for him.

Ah, there she is: noticed here on Style.com bravo! I’ve bought my first set Marlies Dekkers early 90’s. In her own shop in Amsterdam. At first a female friendly sex-toys and underwear site sold her designs. This was a very stylish site by the way: Mail&Female. Wonderful. Marlies was meant to go to be at bigger places. Meant to get a bigger audience and buyers.
So now Usher came to find some inspiration. Hmm, he has been not the only one…….
Style.com show Marlies please????
