rotter rocks on

September 2, 2008  5:25 pm

Between unwashed dudes in Metallica shirts and tween girls who don’t know CBGB from BCBG, rock T-shirts get a bad rap. But Jess Rotter of Rotter and Friends actually makes cool ones, a feat she’s mastered by sticking to what she knows best: original illustrations of her favorite musicians from the sixties and seventies (for Fall ‘08, look for Judee Sill, Ram On, Link Wray, and Bob Seger). Rotter then reinforces her street cred by packaging the shirts in record-sleeve packaging and selling them at record stores. For additional behind-the-music authenticity, the label’s new Web site will include an educational section of rare and interesting albums. The new shirts will be available on September 10, but pre-orders are being accepted at info@rotterandfriends.com.
