the many projects of alexis mabille
Alexis Mabille has been busy of late: On Thursday night, the designer hosted a select cocktail party at the Hotel Paiva in Paris to celebrate the launch of his limited-edition black, blue, and gold habillage for the historic liquor brand Suze. Friends including vintage guru Didier Ludot, Olivier Picasso, and Rebecca Carcelle crowded into the gilded rooms that were once the home of Paris’ greatest courtesan and are now the seat of the Paris Travellers Club. Of his beribboned creation, Mabille remarked, “Suze is so well-known, I wanted to give it a little more glamour, like a smoking.” But this is just one of several projects he has going. For the pop-up Colette shop that opened in the Gap space on Fifth Avenue in New York, Mabille crafted a handbag that marries his signature bow with Gap’s signature gray jersey. Over at the Parisian pâtissier Ladurée, his bow-shaped pastry can be had for seven euros. But the best is yet to come: Mabille is teaming up with jewelry purveyor Lydia Courteille to create a line of about ten pieces, to be unveiled at his show during the Haute Couture collections in January.
