The comfy-chic Parisian label Comptoir des Cotonniers opened its first U.S. outpost last night with the help of Susan Sarandon and her daughter, Eva Amurri. Walking the red carpet together, the two filled us in on family style—a prime theme for the fashion house. “I used to ask her if I could pick out her outfits. I wanted to be her stylist,” said Amurri. “Yes, the tips only come this way,” said Sarandon, pointing from her daughter to herself. “Eva is way more savvy. I didn’t get that gene. I just tell her don’t smoke, wear sunblock. But fashion-wise, no. Although I just gave her one of my Oscar dresses that Tom Ford did for me. And we wear the same shoe size, but I can’t wear high-high heels, so she has inherited some of the more difficult ones.” Think your mother-daughter style deserves a spot in Comptoir des Cotonniers spring/summer ‘09 campaign? The brand is inviting families of the non-celeb variety to hit the 155 Spring Street location this Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. for castings. The lucky New Yorkers selected will be flown to Paris for a photo shoot and will also participate in the SS09 fashion show.
