hugo boss, a sneak preview

October 22, 2008  5:56 pm

Maggie Gyllenhaal, Mena Suvari, and Brooke Shields are expected at tonight’s opening party for Hugo Boss’ new concept shop in the Meatpacking District, but the real attraction is the store itself. The 401 West 14th Street boutique—formerly Western Beef grocery store—features a wooden framework cocoon that “symbolizes the interconnectedness of the various Hugo Boss lines,” explains architect Matteo Thun, “and as such comprises an architectonic manifestation of corporate identity.” Whatever. It just looks cool. Photographer Ryder Robison documented the construction process from raw space to finished product over the span of six months. This flipbook-style video is a Style.com exclusive.
