maria cornejo’s hydra diary

Yasso! I’ve just arrived in Paris after a beautiful weekend on the island of Hydra—about an hour from Athens, Greece. I was invited, along with my husband, Mark Borthwick (who is an artist and photographer); Jussara Lee; the New York-based Icelandic artist Shoplifter; and the Threeasfour gang, by artist Dimitrios Antonitsis to be part of an installation titled Fashion Whatever. The installation was staged at the Hydra School Project, an abandoned school that has been turned into a beautiful gallery space. Mark and I staged a “performance” that blended fashion, art, and music (basically, three models dressed two others in giant layered shapes; they then removed them to show the simple jersey tube dresses they had on underneath). The sun was shining, the sea was pristine and warm, and there was an abundance of local food and great wines. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to send us off to Paris for fashion week!
