web-based movies are center stage at a prada screening

October 29, 2008  12:13 pm

L’Officiel Hommes editor in chief Milan Vukmirovic wrapped up a two-week sojourn in Los Angeles Monday night by attending a screening of nine short films commissioned by Prada for the brand’s Infusion d’Homme fragrance. “What’s interesting to me are the ways in which the company supports young talent through these Internet films, because at the end of the day, let’s face it—we all know the perfume is going to be good,” said Vukmirovic. With contrasting story lines ranging from the evolution of man to astronauts, two-time Oscar-winning editor Pietro Scalia blended the shorts into a 90-second synthesis titled Alchemy, which expertly mixed entries from India, Argentina, Brazil, and beyond. “This was a very fun and challenging project for me,” said the Sicilian-born editor during a post-screening Q&A inside the Hammer Museum. “Thanks to Mrs. Prada, I was able to explore the creative freedom that comes with working for the Internet, and this is definitely something I would like to do more of in the future.”
