Raising The Bardot

We’re the first to admit Los Angeles isn’t exactly the clubbing capital of America. That may be about to change, thanks to a recently opened hot spot named Club Bardot. “It’s Hollywood without the generic Hollywood crap,” declares co-director Jason Scoppa, who with former Green Door colleague Alexi Yulish have teamed up with owner John Lyons to up the ante of SoCal nightlife. Bardot’s jam-packed entertainment schedule includes poetry, Eastern European music, forties jazz, cabaret, and burlesque, as well as Buena Vista Social Club nights and MTV Unplugged rock ‘n’ roll concerts. “Think Chateau Marmont in 1968,” says Scoppa. And it doesn’t stop there. They also vow to include the currently most-wanted man at the wheels of steel on the West Coast—yes, you guessed it, Ryan Gosling. It’s an attribute that will undoubtedly attract a long line of wannabe guests vying for their chance to enter the club. But it’s not as if Scoppa and company are bound to experience any such difficulties in attracting A-list clientele, particularly following their Halloween party co-hosted by Roman Coppola and Jacqui Getty, which welcomed the likes of Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Gina Gershon, Winona Ryder, and Kate Moss. See you there.
