Alexander Wang’s Dirty White Christmas

December 2, 2008  11:56 am

Whether or not Mother Nature chooses to comply, Alexander Wang fans can look forward to a white Christmas. A dirty white Christmas, that is. The newly minted CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner has remixed two of his most popular Resort handbag styles, and this week, the classic hobo, $795, and chain bag, $725, make their dirty white leather debut at Barneys New York. “Whenever my friends buy white bags, like, pristine white, they’re trashed within a week,” explains Wang of the gritty-looking leather treatment. “I always liked that look,” he adds. “And with the dirty white leather, it’s like we did the breaking in for you.” Though this bag duo is exclusive to Barneys, the designer notes that there may be more begrimed ivory coming from chez Wang. In the meantime, however, he’s headed in a more Technicolor direction. Look for the same bags in a hue that he terms “hot-hot-pink” for spring.
