Through the Looking Glass at Villency
December 18, 2008 3:28 pm
With the Villency Emerging Fashion Fund now five years old, few of us question seeing stylishly outfitted mannequins in the windows of the 57th Street furniture store. The latest fashion-centric displays are now up—a coterie of mannequins sporting ensembles from the Spring 2009 recipients of the prize: Elise Øverland and Threeasfour. The latter’s wares reflect the ethereal symmetry of the Spring collection, something that they say relates to Villency’s furniture by embodying “light, reflection and transparency.” Meanwhile, leather virtuoso Øverland’s selection spans her perennial favorites, mixed in with her pale Spring wares. Be sure to check out the red leather getup that Øverland calls her “rock ‘n’ roll Santa Claus.” The windows will stay up until December 23.
