Fause Haten’s Scarlet Fever

The house of Valentino seems to have settled on the designers to succeed the maestro: longtime accessories team Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli. But if perchance things don’t work out for the latest team, the suits at VFG might look to São Paulo’s native son Fause Haten. His Sunday show was packed with clothes for elegant ladies in red satin, silk, and lace, as well as elaborately worked capes and floret-embroidered ball gowns that seemed like an ode to the Tanned One. Haten has a high-octane, jet-setting clientele and his latest ensembles will serve them well. Still, an obsession with crimson isn’t the only requirement to move into the ranks of the masters. Before he can do that, Haten needs to upgrade his fabrics, a few of which looked like cheap blends that a stray match could melt in moments—and that’s never a good look.
