Meryl Streep Votes Yes On Flag-Wearing

January 20, 2009  4:02 pm

It doesn’t just seem like every celebrity and requisite hanger-on is currently being part of history in Washington, D.C.,—they really all are there. Of course, there are exceptions. Some very famous people have other things to do, like work to promote their Oscar-contending films. Still, not being a Mall rat didn’t stop Meryl Streep from showing her extreme joy over the momentous inauguration at last night’s premiere of Doubt in Paris by sporting Catherine Malandrino’s Flag dress, a signature look from 2001 that the designer recently reissued for her decade anniversary. Though a group of worthies no less than Madonna, John Galliano, Halle Berry and Sharon Stone have all worn Malandrino’s flag motif wares, Streep’s impeccable timing (and the sheer fact that she’s Meryl Streep) makes the Doubt star president of the I-Wore-the-Flag club.
