Babies And Clowns at Araks

February 16, 2009  5:17 pm

It’s not every day you see a newborn at a fashion show, but Araks Yeramyan decided to make her presentation in the West Village a family affair. “I just had a baby boy in December,” the now mother of two told us. Styled by Kate Young, her relaxed collection was a study in comfort. “The more babies you have, the easier you have to make it,” Yeramyan declared. The designer was also inspired by Marcel Marceau and French clown costumes, which translated into shots of lemon, tomato, and violet. “Color is my favorite thing and the most exciting for me,” she said. “I feel like fashion is going to go in a really neutral direction soon. But I wanted to balance the two and not make it so somber.”
